Program overview
The People and Performance (P&P) Graduate Program gives you the opportunity to develop skills in a range of Human Resource functional areas through four different rotations over a 12 month period. Each rotation will expose you to a range of specialty areas including Learning and Development, Remuneration and organisational Development. There will also be the opportunity to spend a rotation in the wider Westpac business to give you an understanding of how P&P operates within Westpac.

What we're looking for
You're a real 'people' person who can comfortably communicate with all levels of management and many different personality types. You have good negotiation skills and enjoy finding solutions to problems.
You enjoy working closely with colleagues whether it is to answer a simple query or to help them reach their goals. You have great university grades and have probably taken the opportunity to enhance your interpersonal skills and experience through your involvement in extracurricular activities such as campus clubs and societies.

Job description
As a graduate in the People and Performance (P&P) Program you'll have the opportunity to experience a variety of Human Resources related roles and projects. The program will help you develop skills in project and case management, relationship management, planning and prioritisation, and influencing.
Areas you might be involved in include:
- Recruitment
- Training, Learning and Development
- Remuneration and benefits consulting
- Occupational health and safety
- Employee policy and communication
- Employment law and diversity
- Executive development
To broaden your experience, opportunities within the program exist for a rotation in the wider Westpac business to give you a closer understanding of what we do and more importantly, the roles our people play.

Rotation
A rotation is the time you spend in any one area or department during your 12 month program.
During the P&P Program, you will undertake three rotations of four months duration, each within a different area of People and Performance. The aim of the program is to give you the opportunity to develop skills and experience in a range of Human Resources areas to prepare you for a career with Westpac.

Career path
At the end of your 12 month graduate program, you could find yourself taking multiple career paths within P&P. You may choose to kick start your career with a role as a Consultant in any of our enterprise wide support People and Performance functions such as Learning and Development or Remuneration. If you are interested in working directly with our business partners, you may choose to start your career as a Business Unit Consultant partnering with our business people to provide advice and expertise on HR related issues and projects.
From there, you could branch out into different areas of HR in order to expand your depth of experience.

Support and training
During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.
You'll also have the support of your Mentor who will offer career management advice throughout the year and provide guidance on which rotation opportunities would be most suited to your individual development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide formal training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help you make the most of your graduate year by equipping you with the necessary communication and business skills for success.
Your Buddy will also provide a great support for you during your graduate year. As an ex-graduate, your Buddy can help you settle into the organisation and provide you with support and advice throughout your program.
