Program overview
The purpose of the program is to give you exposure to a wide scope of what goes on in Financial Markets (FM) before you start your career. With this in mind, our focus will be to ensure you have broad experience while you are on the program.

What we're looking for
You will be confident, possess good problem solving skills, learn quickly, have strong teamwork qualities, strong interpersonal skills and a solutions-based approach to work. You'll have a technical knowledge of modelling through your university studies. What's more, you'll also have the street-wise understanding of how to create deals and who to sell them to.

Job description
Tasks include:
- Trading and taking calculated risks within set trading limits
- Attending trading briefings to learn about upcoming issues, reports and economic data forecasting
- Spreadsheet formatting and modelling
- Conducting client needs analysis
- Interacting with customers and meet their needs
- Middle office functions, such as checking trades and profit and loss reports
- Researching requests such as looking for trends that might help trading decisions
- Producing reports to ensure trading stays within funding limits

Rotation
A rotation is the time you spend in an area or department. You'll be on eight week rotations for a total of eight to 12 months across a variety of desks within the dealing room. We'll talk to you about where your interests lie and your rotations will be determined by the available opportunities.

Career path
Future career opportunities for graduates in Financial Markets lie in Sydney, Wellington, London, Asia and New York. Your first role off the graduate program could be: Junior Dealer or Junior Sales Manager in Foreign Exchange, Derivatives or Commodities, Structurer or Junior Credit Research Analyst. To give you an idea of where you can go, the General Manager of our Financial Markets, Russel Armstrong, started his career in WIB as a graduate.

Support and training
During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate specific events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program. A Placement Manager will be your day-to-day manager in each of your rotations.
You'll have the support of your Mentor who will give career management advice throughout the year and guide you on which rotation opportunities would be best for your development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide training throughout the year. You'll participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help our graduates make the most of their graduate year. This training includes business writing skills, presentation skills, influencing skills, AFMA financial services accreditations and a dealer simulation course.
Your Buddy is also a great support. This person is an ex-graduate who can help you out with settling into the organisation and will provide you with support and advice throughout your program.

Customers are supported through branches and subsidiaries located in Australia, New Zealand, New York, London and Asia.
In Financial Markets, we don't just sell products, we provide solutions for our customers. The people in our dealing room spend most of their time working on foreign exchange, interest rates and capital markets with further opportunities to work in Equity Derivatives Trading and Energy Trading. Our graduate program will develop the technical and professional skills you'll need to be part of the team. There are also many good opportunities to network, a skill you'll need to master when you're working in this area.
