Program overview
The Enterprise Channels and Infrastructure (ECI) eBusiness Graduate Program is a 12 month rotational program that gives you the opportunity to work within the ECI Team at Westpac.
The ECI Team are responsible for:
- Providing reliable, secure, anytime, anywhere access to Westpac's products and services for our customers.
- Managing change (developments, enhancements and upgrades) to Westpac's products, services and channels.
In particular, ECI look after:
- Westpac's online presence including the website, Online Banking, and specialist online solutions for our corporate customers
- Telephone Banking
- Staff support systems particularly for branches, call centres and sales teams and the Westpac intranet
- Major programmes of work in our product areas.
The aim of the rotational program is to introduce you to a variety of challenging roles within ECI. This is an ideal program for individuals who wish to gain:
- A breadth of knowledge in how Westpac's products and channels operate, are developed and improved
- An understanding of the importance of research, reliability, security, access and design in managing products and channels
- An insight into how operational and strategic developments can enable Westpac's business objectives
- An understanding of the way employees and customers interact with the technology that delivers and supports our channels and products
- An insight into how technology can continually support, improve and transform products and channels to create a superior customer experience
By gaining 12 months of varied and challenging experience across ECI you will be well placed to determine the most appropriate options within the team when you move into a permanent role after the completion of the program.

What we're looking for
The eBusiness Graduate Program is looking for graduates who:
- Have studied at degree level, with a focus on eBusiness or eCommerce
- Have ambition to identify, develop, and implement strategic and tactical ideas that will innovate Westpac's products, services and channels
- Have an excellent focus on customers, and are passionate about how best to leverage technology to make our products, services and channels attractive, effective and easy to use for our customers and staff
- Have an aptitude to develop strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Relish working on diverse, complex and challenging activities in a dynamic, high-performing environment
- Want to learn about the critical competencies and skills for working in financial services, project management and with technology
- Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills, as well as having an eye for detail
- Are strong communicators, both in writing and verbally, and can articulate complex ideas and concepts simply
- Can work as an active and enthusiastic member of a team or project, and also have the ability to work autonomously.

Job description
As ECI is continually undertaking a large number of innovative initiatives and projects, many varied and challenging rotations are possible.
You may work on smaller, short-term projects or contribute to larger, long-running programmes.
Some of your responsibilities may include:
- Project management work e.g. assist in writing detailed business requirements that maximise the value for the organisation, identifying and mitigating risks, controlling and driving costs down, and communicating change to employees and customers
- Experience in collaboration, influencing and negotiating with internal customers and business partners.

Rotation
A rotation is the time you'll spend in any one business team during your 12 month program. The eBusiness graduate program gives you the opportunity to work across several department or projects through a series of four, three month rotations over a one year period.
In your first two rotations there is opportunity to rotate within:
- Electronic Channels
- Design Centre of Excellence
Your second two rotations can be chosen from the other teams or projects within ECI depending on your emerging interests and skills, as well as the latest projects and initiatives that are in place at that time.

Support and training
During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide both formal training and a graduate support network.
Formal Training
A key principle in ECI is customer-centric design. We have a commitment to delivering solutions that have excellent usability, to ensure our intended audience can use them easily and effectively.
As a unique part of the Westpac eBusiness Graduate programme, you will receive training in Customer Centred Design. This training is provided to Westpac by an expert organisation, with exercises and case studies from some of the best practitioners in Australia and around the world, and gives you an accreditation that is recognised throughout the e-commerce industry.
We also provide broad business training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help you make the most of your graduate year by equipping you with the necessary communication and business skills for success. You will also receive training to keep you up to date with our processes and practices.
Your Support Team
Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.
You'll also have the support of your Mentor who will offer career management advice throughout the year and provide guidance on which rotation opportunities would be most suited to your individual development and career aspirations.
Your Buddy will also provide a great support for you during your graduate year. As an ex-graduate your Buddy can help you out with settling into the organisation and will provide you with support and advice throughout your program.

Background
The Australian Financial Services industry is becoming increasingly challenging. As one of the major Australian banks, Westpac is looking for innovative ways to create competitive products and provide faster, smarter ways for customers to use our products and services.
ECI is comprised of around 400 employees, with some teams focused on channels and others on products. While each team has a specialist focus, all manage and deliver tactical and/or strategic change on time, to budget, with disciplined risk and cost management practices, and reflecting customer-centric design practices.
