Program overview
The Consumer Financial Services (CFS) Research & Analytics Program is a 12 month rotational program that will give you the opportunity to experience two important research teams within the Consumer Marketing Division. One of your rotations will be with the Customer Research team, and the other with the Analytics team. The specialised experience you gain in this program provides you with a number of career options when you move into a permanent role after 12 months.

What we're looking for
You have superior analytical and research skills, yet you also have the interpersonal and communication abilities required to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders and levels of management.
You have recently finished university, preferably with a degree in economics, statistics or finance.

Job description
The program will provide you with the opportunity to work in two different teams within the research and analytics areas of our business.
You'll spend six months in an analytics team, where you will get the opportunity to analyse and interpret economic, financial markets, competitor and customer data in order to determine implications for the industry and the macro-economic influences on our business.
You will also spend six months in a Customer research team, where you will develop your research skills in areas such as customer experience, and brand and customer value propositions i.e. the drivers of customer behaviour.
The type of work that you undertake within both teams will be varied and may include:
Areas you might be involved in include:
- Preparing ad hoc reports on market opportunities, product and process innovations and enhancements that will improve profit, market share, customer experience and/or reduce costs.
- Detailed analysis of Westpac and competitor performance versus the market to provide initial assessment of priority areas for business improvement.
- Distribution of syndicated reports with an overall Consumer Market view on key market metrics (e.g. customer penetration, share of wallet) and provide actionable strategic information for key product categories.
- Detailed monitoring of customer experience and satisfaction compared to Westpac's major competitors

Rotation
A rotation is the time you will spend with any particular team in the Consumer Marketing division during the course of the Research and Analytics Program.
The program is split into two rotations of six months duration. Throughout the year, you will rotate through our Customer Research team and our Analytics team.

Career path
The Research and Analytics Specialist Program offers you a great range of career options. At the end of the 12 month program, you may choose to apply the skills you've developed in your graduate year as a Consultant in Research or Analytics, or, you might choose to Consult in a marketing team. Your potential may see you move into a Senior Managerial role in either of these two areas within a few years.

Support and training
During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.
You'll also have the support of your Mentor who will offer career management advice throughout the year and provide guidance on which rotation opportunities would be most suited to your individual development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide formal training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help you make the most of your graduate year by equipping you with the necessary communication and business skills for success.
Your Buddy will also provide a great support for you during your graduate year. As an ex-graduate, your Buddy can help you settle into the organisation and provide you with support and advice throughout your program.

Background
The consumer research and analytics teams form part of the Consumer Marketing area of Consumer Financial Services (CFS). Consumer Marketing is responsible for a number of key functions for CFS including:
- Brand Stewardship - responsible for Westpac's brand strategy and thought leadership for CFS's Sales through Service Agenda
- Marketing Execution - deployment of the key marketing functions: research, segmentation, analytics and marketing communications
- Customer Experience - establishing clear direction for our customer service agenda, with measurable milestones and accountabilities
- Market and Customer Analysis - performs key functions in order to provide tools for effective business decisions; customer and market insights, strategic guidance and performance tracking.
