    The Business Financial Services (BFS) Relationship Banking program aims to give you a solid understanding of how the core of the Westpac business operates. During the 12 month program you will have the opportunity to work in different sales areas within BFS where our customers require relationship management. Opportunities also exist to work within our Credit area.

  • What we're looking for

    You're a real people person who has a genuine interest in the banking industry, enjoys new challenges and has demonstrated work experience in a customer service environment. You aren't afraid of rolling up your sleeves and doing some hard work.

    You've either just finished university or you're in your final year of study. Most areas of study will be considered to build a career as a Relationship Banker including Business, Economics, Commerce, Marketing, Finance & Accounting.

    You also have plenty of drive and energy, enjoy responsibility and believe anything is possible. You welcome the opportunity to work in a friendly, team-oriented environment.

  • Job description

    As a Relationship Banker, you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with our customers to develop your product knowledge and build your customer experience. Our business is diverse, so naturally the type of work you'll be involved in will be varied.

    Rotations provide you with the opportunity to experience sales and service in a variety of customer facing areas within Business Banking where you will work closely with our small to medium Business customers.

    You will be exposed to a broad range of departments within Westpac including Financial Markets, Business Loan Centre, International Business, Premium Business Group, Property Finance and Business Banking where your responsibilities might involve providing support to a Senior Relationship Manager to assist in managing their client portfolios.

  • Rotation

    A rotation is the time you'll spend in any one department or area during the 12 month program.

    You will complete three rotations of four months duration each in a sales/credit role over a 12 month period. During your rotations, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with our most valuable clients and to understand the way in which we manage our relationship with them.

    Some of the rotations may include the opportunity to work within:

    • Premium Business Group
    • Property Finance
    • Business Acquisition Group
    • Business Banking
    • Credit

    At the completion of your twelve month program, you will have a good understanding of how you can build a career as a Relationship Banker with Westpac.

  • Career path

    The Relationship Banking program offers you a great range of career options. Some of our most senior managers in Business Financial Services began their career on our graduate program.

    At the completion of your program, you may choose to kick start your career with Westpac as a Customer Manager, Credit Analyst, Assistant Relationship Manager or Business Banking Manager before moving into a Senior Relationship Manager role within a couple of years. Opportunities also exist to pursue leadership roles within various areas of Sales.

  • Support and training

    During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.

    You'll also have the support of your Mentor who will offer career management advice throughout the year and provide guidance on which rotation opportunities would be most suited to your individual development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide formal training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help you make the most of your graduate year by equipping you with the necessary communication and business skills for success.

    Your Buddy will also provide a great support for you during your graduate year. As an ex-graduate, your Buddy can help you settle into the organisation and provide you with support and advice throughout your program.
