  • Program overview

The Regional Graduate Program is a 12 month program that will provide you with the opportunity to live and work in regional Australia. This program is designed to provide you with a full understanding of our products, services and customers that we service. It will also give you the opportunity, in the second half of your program, to meet and work directly with our customers.

This program is very similar to our Agribusiness program. It is the different products that we use to service our customers that differentiates the Regional program from our Agribusiness program.

  • What we're looking for

You understand the needs of people who live and work in regional Australia. You have an affinity with country life, gained perhaps by having lived in regional Australia yourself.

You are comfortable working independently and are prepared to travel to remote parts of the country to meet our customers.

On an academic level, you're likely to have a degree in Agribusiness or Economics.

You're the sort of person who has a genuine interest in the banking industry, enjoys new challenges, and has demonstrated work experience in a customer service environment. You've just finished university where you have achieved great grades and you have been involved in campus clubs and societies refining your skills of working with people.

You aren't afraid of rolling up your sleeves and doing some hard work. You enjoy responsibility and the opportunity to work in a friendly, team-oriented environment. You have plenty of drive and energy and believe that anything is possible.

  • Job description

In the first half of the year (approximately 4-6 months) you'll spend time based in our Country Business Direct / Business Direct Centres based in either Ballarat - VIC, Perth - WA, Orange - NSW or Townsville - QLD to provide the opportunity to understand the various products, services and systems we offer our customers.

In the second part of the year you will spend time relieving in a different role and supporting Senior Relationship Managers in handling their portfolio of clients. This will enable you to work directly with our customers and service their needs.

As a Business Banker, you will have a unique opportunity to work with the customer in a front line capacity to build your product knowledge and customer experience.

Your rotations will be spent in customer-facing roles while you work/live in regional Australia. The purpose of these rotations is to experience sales and service within a variety of customer facing areas within Business Banking. With customer, and hence sales locations, all across Australia, the ability to move and experience different places is immense.

  • Rotation

A rotation is the time you'll spend in any one department or area. The 12 month regional program is split into two parts.

  • Rewards/Benefits

We offer a very competitive graduate salary. You'll enjoy generous staff benefits including financial product discounts and health and lifestyle benefits. Also, if you need to relocate to take up a position on this program, we'll help you move.

  • Career path

Sales offer you a great range of career options. You may work as a Customer Manager or Credit Analyst and move into an Assistant Relationship Manager role and Senior Relationship Manager role over a couple of years. There are then opportunities for leadership roles in various areas within Sales.

  • Support and training

During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate specific events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.

You'll have the support of your Mentor who will give career management advice throughout the year and guide you on which rotation opportunities would be best for your development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help our graduates make the most of their graduate year by equipping them with the necessary communication and business skills to be successful.

Your Buddy is also a great support. This person is an ex-graduate who can help you out with settling into the organisation and will provide you with support and advice throughout your program.
