Program overview
The Business Financial Services (BFS) Marketing Graduate Program is a 12 month rotational program that gives you a unique opportunity to work with a variety of teams within BFS Marketing. Over the 12 month period, you'll be introduced to new roles and challenges through a series of three rotations of four months duration each. All three rotations will have a business unit marketing focus rather than an enterprise marketing focus. Opportunities also exist to work across both Product and Marketing teams.

You have a genuine interest in the banking industry, enjoy new challenges and aren't afraid of rolling up your sleeves and doing some hard work.
You enjoy responsibility, have demonstrated work experience in a customer service environment and welcome the opportunity to work in a friendly, team-oriented environment.
You've just finished university where you achieved great grades and took the opportunity to enhance your inter-personal skills and experience through your involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs and societies. You have plenty of drive and energy and believe anything is possible.

Job description
As a Business Marketer you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our sales force to develop, build and manage our business products. Rotations across both Marketing and Sales give you the opportunity to experience sales and service across the entire business distribution chain.
Opportunities for rotations arise in both Marketing and Product roles. You will also have the opportunity to spend time in customer-facing roles to gain a full understanding of customer needs.
Product
Within the Product area, you may be involved in a variety of tasks including:
- Searching for market opportunities, product and process innovations that will improve profit, market share, customer experience and/or reduce cost
- Developing and implementing market leading customer solutions
- Ensuring development recommendations reflect a sustainable and profitable balance between the short and longer term interests of stakeholders, consistent with Bank strategy
- Ensuring product features, policies and processes developed are efficient and accurately and publicly documented, both internally and externally
- Achieving close and productive collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and industry boards
Marketing
Within Marketing, you could be involved in the execution of a range of marketing activities. Some of your responsibilities may include:
- Briefing in campaigns (above the line and below the line) to the agencies and data providers
- Approval of creative work completed by the agencies
- Developing communications plans as well as seeing the creative through the production process
- Communication to the broader Sales business on all campaigns
- Complete post campaign analysis
Projects
Project roles that you might undertake can be varied and may include:
- Process efficiency projects
- Reviews of role requirements and existing skills capabilities within various business areas
- New business acquisition projects
- Product research initiatives

Rotation
A rotation is the time you'll spend in any one business team during your 12 month program. The Marketing Specialist Program enables you to work in various business teams through a series of three rotations over a one year period. Your rotations will vary depending on the stream you work in.
At the end of your 12 months, the Marketing Specialist Program will lead you to a permanent role that may be in the Business Unit Marketing Team, Enterprise Marketing team or our own Sales force.

Career path
As a Marketing Specialist Program graduate, you might choose to kick start your career as a Product Analyst within the Product area before continuing on to Product Manager and Senior Product Manager roles over the course of a few years.
Within the Marketing area, you might launch your career as a Marketing Assistant before moving into a Marketing Manager role, followed by a Senior Marketing Manager role.
In both career paths, there may be opportunities to gain experience in both Marketing and Product roles as your career progresses. If your passion lies in customer-facing roles, you may also have the opportunity to specialise in a Sales-oriented area.

Support and training
During your graduate program we'll work with you to bring out your best and encourage you to grow and develop. Your Graduate Manager will provide you with support and direction during your program and will be responsible for working with you to set up your rotations. Your Graduate Manager will also facilitate a number of graduate events throughout the year and will help you find an appropriate role at the end of your program.
You'll also have the support of your Mentor who will offer career management advice throughout the year and provide guidance on which rotation opportunities would be most suited to your individual development and career aspirations. As well as on-the-job development opportunities, we also provide formal training throughout the year. You will participate in a training curriculum specifically designed to help you make the most of your graduate year by equipping you with the necessary communication and business skills for success.
Your Buddy will also provide a great support for you during your graduate year. As an ex-graduate, your Buddy can help you settle into the organisation and provide you with support and advice throughout your program.

Sales is the heart of Business Banking. Everything we do in Business Financial Services is about providing our customers with a superior customer experience, whether we are servicing their personal, or business needs, or both.
BFS is responsible for the banking needs of over 400,000 customers across Australia. To service our customers needs, BFS has around 3,500 staff but we also need university graduates from an array of disciplines to provide new insights into how we manage customer expectations and lead our people to delivering superior customer service.
